Roberto Gildi, birdwatcher and book-seller in Rome, is involved in
Nature since more than 20 years. He is a Nature Photographer,
contributing
photographs for
national and worldwide publications.
He was the co-founder of various regional associations for nature
and bird protection. He organized and carried out birding courses in
Rome, also with the support of the local section of the Italian
League for the Protection of Birds. He collaborated with the main
Italian organizations for the protection of Nature (such as World
Wide Fund), carrying out anti-poaching workcamps at the Messina
Strait, raptor protection and counting workcamps, censusing of
wintering waterfowl in C Italy. His main job is to sell nature book,
particularly field-guides both Italian and International. With
Roberto it will be possible to discover the birdlife of Rome and
surroundings, going until the lower coastal Maremma north of Rome or
the Apeninnes east of the town, where the main birds to be found
are: Cattle Egret, Great Egret, Flamingo, Red Kite, Short-toed Eagle,
Hobby, Montagu's Harrier, Stone Curlew, Black-winged Stilt, Kentish
Plover, Slender-billed Gull, Audouin's Gull, Mediterranean Gull,
Hoopoe, Bee-eater, Roller, Calandra Lark, Tawny Pipit, Blue Trush,
Subapline Warbler, Woodchat Shrike, Griffon Vulture, Golden Eagle,
Red-billed Chough, Red-backed Shrike, Crag Martin, Woodlark, Rock
Sparrow, Snow Finch and Rock Bunting
